The Recovery Dock Is Coming to an Event Near You

The wood-fired sauna and cold plunge tub set up with deck chairs

A wood-fired sauna, a cold plunge and a tour of the UK's best outdoor events. Here's who we are, what we do and where you'll find us over the next year.

There's a moment after every open-water swim, every paddle and every race when your body asks one simple question: now what? We built The Recovery Dock to answer it. We're a mobile, wood-fired sauna and cold plunge experience, and over the next year we're bringing proper recovery to some of the best outdoor events in the UK.

What to expect

The set-up is simple and rather lovely. Our sauna is hand-built, heated by a proper wood-fired stove and parked as close to the water as we can get it — on the bank, by the finish line, steps from the shore. Sessions run in 20-minute slots for up to ten people at a time, with the stove sitting at a toasty 80–90°C. When you're ready to cool off, the cold plunge is right outside. Heat, cold, repeat. It's the oldest recovery method in the book, and it never stops feeling brilliant.

Every session is £15, and you book online for the event you're attending — no memberships, no faff. Your slot is held for 15 minutes while you check out, so there's no scramble to beat anyone to the till.

Where we'll be

Our tour kicks off at The Surge at Burton Reservoir in October 2026 — post-swim heat therapy at the water's edge, towels provided. In March 2027 we'll be parked at the finish line of Race to the Castle in Nottingham for three days of racing and three days of recovery. Then summer 2027 brings Pump n Paddle to both Burton Reservoir and Pitsford Reservoir, where the sauna sits right on the bank with a view of the water.

More events are being added all the time, so keep an eye on our events page — and if you run an event and think your swimmers, paddlers or runners deserve a proper warm-down, we'd love to hear from you.

How to book

Head to the events page, pick your event and choose a time slot that suits. Spots are limited to ten per session and the popular times go quickly, so booking ahead is always the safe bet. All you need on the day is swimwear, a towel and a water bottle.

See you at the water.
